John Gillham’s first book Snowdonia to the Gower was published by Diadem Books in 1990. Gillham has since written and illustrated twenty other books, including Coast to Coasting (David and Charles) 50 Walks: Derbyshire (AA Publications) and Ramblers’ Guide: Lake District (Collins). He won the 2001 Outdoor Writers’ Guild Award for Excellence in the ‘outdoor book’ categorand is currently the Chairman of the Outdoor Writers & Photographers Guild.

Gillham’s work has regularly been published in magazines such as TGO (The Great Outdoors), where for several years he had his own series Way to Go’, Trail, Country Walking, and Dalesman. John has contributed walking articles and written books for AA publications, including AA Guide to 50 Walks in North Wales and the AA Leisure Guide to Wales.

John Gillham knows Wales from coast to coast, the Pennines, Northumberland, the Lake District, North Cornwall, Derbyshire and the Peak District. Abroad he has covered the United States (Arizona, Colorado, Nevada and Utah); Austria (the Tyrol); most of Switzerland, Italy (Val Gardena and Lake Garda) and France (Chamonix Corsica and the Giffre Valley).
