John Gillham

John Gillham’s first book Snowdonia to the Gower was published by Diadem Books in 1990. Gillham has since written and illustrated sixteen other books, including Coast to Coasting (David and Charles) 50 Walks: Derbyshire (AA Publications) and Ramblers’ Guide: Lake District (Collins). He won the 2001 Outdoor Writers’ Guild Award for Excellence in the ‘outdoor book’ category.

Gillham’s work has regularly been published in magazines such as TGO (The Great Outdoors), where he has his own series Way to Go’, Trail, Country Walking, and Dalesman. John has contributed walking articles and books  to AA publications, including AA Guide to 50 Walks in North Wales.

John Gillham knows Wales from coast to coast, the Pennines, Northumberland, the Lake District, North Cornwall, Derbyshire and the Peak District. Abroad he has covered the United States (Arizona, Colorado, Nevada and Utah); Austria (the Tyrol); most of Switzerland, Italy (Val Gardena and Lake Garda) and France (Chamonix Corsica and the Giffre Valley).

In March 2010 the first two of four Pictorial Guides to the Mountains of Snowdonia were brought out by Wainwright’s publisher Frances Lincoln. The 350-page books will offer by far the most comprehensive coverage of Snowdonia’s hills and mountains to date and are illustrated by the author’s 3d panoramas and colour photographs,
